Which size fits?
To see which gullet size fits your horse, you need to assess the fit of the saddle from the ground. To do this, the horse must be standing upright on a level surface and the saddle must be in the correct position on the horse's back. Now check whether you can slide your hand under the tack chamber while standing upright. If this is not the case, the saddle does not offer enough shoulder room and the gullet must be replaced with a tighter one.
Dimensions:
N (narrow; pink) = 76° angle / 27 cm between the ends (chamber width)*
M (medium; purple) = 78° angle / 28 cm between the ends
MW (medium wide; orange) = 81.5° angle / 29 cm between the ends
W (wide; green) = 86° angle / 30 cm between the ends
XW (extra wide; grey) = 91° angle / 31 cm between the ends
XXW (extra extra wide; white) = 94° angle / 32 cm between the ends
*Please note that the width of the gullet does not necessarily determine the angle of the gullet plate. Saddles from different manufacturers with the same width of the gullet plate can have gullets with different angles.
Now stroke the flat of your hand from the saddle chamber downwards under the front panels. The saddle should fit evenly everywhere and follow the horse's shoulders without creating pressure points.
Viewed from the front, the saddle tree and nails should have the same angle as the horse's shoulder region. The saddle should never deviate from the horse's body by more than 10°.
