Laminitis is a disease that is now widespread and causes horses a lot of pain. It no longer just affects ponies and robust horses, but also large horses. In recent years, laminitis has become a disease of civilization with an often very dramatic course of the disease.
There are many causes of this serious disease. Laminitis is often the result of a metabolic disorder (equine metabolic syndrome or Cushing syndrome).
Atcom Horse has developed Atcom Rehe-Vital for these risk groups. Because these horses in particular need a special and high-quality supplement of essential vital substances.
Minerals, vitamins, amino acids and trace elements are responsible for well-being, metabolism and the body's own immune system. Extensive research and the latest research results, as well as our knowledge from 16 years on the subject of hooves, have been incorporated into the product development.
As a result , Atcom Rehe-Vital now has the following special features:
A high content of vitamin E is important for a good antioxidant effect. This means that the walls of the cells are protected from damage. This is an important aspect with regard to the inflammatory processes in laminitis. In this way, the body's cells can be protected from further damage. Vitamin E also reduces the clumping of blood platelets, so that blood flow in the fine capillaries can be supported. Vitamin E also stimulates the production of antibodies, which helps to reduce inflammatory processes.
The laminitis disease also often disrupts the body's own synthesis of vitamin C and the B vitamins in the intestine. Atcom Rehe-Vital therefore supplies the horse with the amounts it needs. Since, according to current studies, the groups of sick horses have an increased need for magnesium, Rehe-Vital contains a combination of highly available organic and inorganic magnesium. Magnesium is essential for the function of many enzymes and for the permeability of the cell membrane. Blood tests often show a reduced magnesium level in the blood of these horses.
An adequate supply of zinc is also ensured. Zinc is involved in important processes in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. Intestinal stress such as intestinal dysbiosis (disruption of the natural community of bacteria in the intestine) and liver stress, as well as increased strain on the immune system and stress, also lead to an individual increase in zinc requirements. Zinc is also responsible for the physiological growth of the hoof horn.
Atcom Rehe-Vital supplies unsaturated fatty acids, particularly omega 3 fatty acids, via linseed oil, linseed and other vegetable oils. These are said to have a positive effect on promoting unhindered blood flow and their anti-inflammatory effect has long been known.
The amino acids contained in Atcom Rehe-Vital support muscle metabolism (L-lysine) and optimize horn quality (DL-methionine and L-cysteine).
In horses with laminitis, it is also important to support the formation of healthy hoof horn through nutrition, especially after an attack of laminitis. The high biotin content in Atcom Rehe-Vital also supports this mechanism of action.
In addition, the lecithin contained in Atcom Rehe-Vital supports liver metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism. This is particularly desirable for the risk groups mentioned. Lecithin is also said to have a beneficial effect on the elasticity and moisture of the hoof horn.
Atcom Rehe-Vital contains a wide range of other vitamins, minerals and trace elements as well as yeasts and bentonite-montmorillonite. The intestinal flora-stabilizing effect of the yeast cultures is supplemented by the clay mineral. In addition, bentonite binds harmful substances contained in the feed or produced during digestion, such as ammonium and sulphur compounds. This supports the already weakened digestive tract.
With regard to the risk groups, however, it is not only important that all the necessary nutrients are contained in a mineral feed. At the same time, a mineral feed aimed at these risk groups should only contain a minimal amount of starch and sugar. Dextrose and/or molasses as well as grain components should therefore be taboo - and this is also the case with Atcom Rehe-Vital . With a very low sugar and starch content , Atcom Rehe-Vital can be fed to the risk groups without any problems. The content is even harmless for horses with equine metabolic syndrome.
Atcom Rehe-Vital is therefore the ideal mineral feed for horses at risk of laminitis and those with metabolic problems, as well as for horses with acute and/or chronic laminitis.
Due to the high-quality supply of vital substances , Atcom Rehe-Vital is also an excellent supplement for horses suffering from the so-called PSSM, a sugar storage disorder with an impact on muscle metabolism.
