Additional Information
A curb bit can help well-trained horses and experienced riders to perform at their best. Curb bits are designed for experienced riders and well-trained horses because they provide leverage. Taking hold of the reins also works on the horse's neck and chin, which can have a positive effect on performance in well-trained horses.
The Icelandic curb bit is a special bit because, when used correctly, it not only works through leverage, but also functions like a snaffle. If the bit and the curb chain are set up correctly, the angle of the levers will change when the horse is round and the rein contact from the rider's hand to the mouth will be relatively straight. Then the curb chain has no effect on the horse. If, on the other hand, the horse becomes stiff in the neck and comes up too high, then the curb chain has an effect on the horse and encourages it to become rounder again.
Bit guards can help protect the sensitive skin around the corners of the horse's mouth from injuries caused by pinching and rubbing. Please note that the bit guards can make the bit a little tighter.
This bit complies with FEIF rules and meets international standards. It can therefore be used in sport and breeding competitions. (Please note that some national associations have special rules for certain age groups)
